Residency at Main & Station
Parrsboro, Nova Scotia from July 3-19, 2021
We arrived together in Parrsboro, at the Main & Station Residency under quarantine restrictions (the first week). After preparing the space, a routine of daily personal practice and a session of collaborative activities filled the mornings. Each afternoon, we presented works-in-progress to one another. Using Liz Lerman’s “Critical Response Process” we workshopped each individual project and each began to clarify how our works were being received. We gathered valuable information to help us develop the work further. We also spent a day developing a plan for our Community Project at our upcoming Artscape Gibraltar Point Residency on Toronto Islands (October 2021).
The final days of our residency we worked with artist and curator Becka Viau (PEI). Becka provided a fresh viewpoint for our individual works and was able to share valuable references and perspectives as an experienced curator. With support from Becka we were able to gather a preliminary sketch of what may appear in our final gallery exhibition.
